CONTRIBUTION - The Sun in Gate 8 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The sun has now moved to Gate 8, CONTRIBUTION or FULFILLMENT. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called HOLDING TOGETHER. 

This energy needs to make a CONTRIBUTION to this world in order to be FULFILLED. It is as simple as that.

If given the opportunity this energy will make a difference in this world. Collaboration can be the key to facilitate that opportunity. With the right people and the right energies this can be the individual circuit expression of productive change manifested.

Not having the opportunity to make a CONTRIBUTION can weigh very heavily on people who have this energy prominently defined. If their J-O-B makes them feel like a cog in a wheel that doesn’t make any difference it could very well lead to melancholy.

Here’s the thing. Whether we have this energy defined or not, most of us want to feel like we are here to make a difference. But so many of us do not give ourselves the credit for the CONTRIBUTION we are already making. Some people make a CONTRIBUTION to this world by raising their children with impeccable values. Others, make a CONTRIBUTION by fostering empathy through art. Others make a CONTRIBUTION by changing the face of technology. Others make a CONTRIBUTION by improving the quality of life for others in small ways every day. We are all different, on different paths, and all of this is valid and necessary.

With this is mind, how do you make a CONTRIBUTION? Would you say your CONTRIBUTION to this world is on balance positive or negative? What can you do to make more of a CONTRIBUTION? What does making a CONTRIBUTION mean to you? How can you CONTRIBUTE more to the well being of the people around you? If you're not getting that sense of CONTRIBUTION to the world at work, what can you do in your spare time to feel like you are making a difference? Have you considered volunteering? If it is a creative CONTRIBUTION you desire, how can you be open to those kind of opportunities?

These opportunities present themselves all the time. The trick is using your Strategy and Authority to know when to act. When we are true to our design, we are playing the role that is of most use to this world.

In this way we all have something integral to CONTRIBUTE. 

EXPLANATION - The Sun in Gate 23 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved to Gate 23, EXPLANATION, ASSIMILATION, or TRANSMISSION. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called SPLITTING APART.

This is the energy for breaking down very complex ideas and concepts into digestible pieces that are easier to understand. It is SPLITTING APART what could be an overwhelming concept into understandable pieces. This is a process of course. It is as much an internal process of understanding the grand inspiration as it is a method for communicating it.

Be careful though. Right timing is everything. This is part of what is lovingly called the GENIUS TO FREAK channel. You can either come off as a freak or a genius depending on when you communicate. It is just as much about waiting until you have broken it down in an understandable way for yourself as it is waiting until other people are ready to hear it.

People with this energy can be a bit lost in their head which is understandable. They are generally not particularly good listeners. Frustrating for the people around them but certainly not personal. You'd be lost in your head too if you were solving the puzzle of how to break down enormous concepts for the benefit of humanity.

How would you rate your listening skills? Do you have the ability to get out of your own head and really listen to people? Or is this a challenge for you? Do you have a tendency to think out loud before the thought has truly baked? Are you waiting to see if people are open to hearing from you? How can you do a better job of stopping to really listen to what they have to say first?

The Sun now moves into Gate 25, LOVE OF SPIRIT, also known as ACCEPTANCE or simply SPIRIT. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called INNOCENCE.

This is the energy of LOVE, plain and simple. When someone has this energy defined they are LOVE. This is not something that can be explained or taught. It just is and when you are in the presence of this aura, you feel love. There is also a life long lesson with this energy of letting go and ACCEPTING SPIRIT.

Maybe this is why this energy is so healing to others. People with this energy are natural healers and they quite literally heal others with LOVE.

It is so very difficult for people with this energy defined to witness cruelty. It is a shock to their INNOCENT nature and truly wounds them. But all they can do in response is embody LOVE. Others will either pick up on that energy or they won't. Which ties into the life long lesson of letting go and ACCEPTING that LOVE OF SPIRIT will prevail.

While this energy is transiting, think about how LOVING you are on a day to day basis. Do you approach strangers with the same LOVE in your heart you give to your LOVED ones? If not, why not? Do you in fact regularly approach your LOVED ones with LOVE in your heart? If not, what can you do to make this more of a habit? If we all made more of an effort to go about our daily lives with more LOVE in our heart, what could we accomplish as a collective?

The sun has now moved to Gate 28, STRUGGLE or TENACITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called PREPONDERANCE OF THE GREAT.

Life can seem like a STRUGGLE for the person who has Gate 28 defined. They can really feel put upon by the universe. But people with this energy are sometimes not aware they actually thrive on the STRUGGLE. Things don’t seem worth it unless they are difficult. Otherwise, what is the point?

A task will seem meaningless to someone with STRUGGLE defined in their chart if it is too easy and that really is the point. This energy is about the search for meaning. Because there is a very potent fear here that life has no meaning. Difficulty and STRUGGLE make life important and worth living.

These are the people who choose extremely difficult, complicated work. Is that not a blessing to society?

Of course if this energy for STRUGGLE is not directed in a productive way it can unfortunately be directed at their interpersonal relationships. Personal drama can be an outlet for this energy. That said, a person who is willing and able to work through difficulty in a relationship is a wonderful partner indeed.

How does STRUGGLE play a part in your life? Does everything seem hard to you? Do you experience this as bad luck? Why? Are you someone who seeks to work smart and simplify things in your life? Would it kill you to do something the hard way for once? If it is hard does that make it right? Do you resent how other people seem to sail through life when every day for you feels like a STRUGGLE? Is the STRUGGLE indeed a bad thing? Or does the STRUGGLE make your life meaningful? What would happen if you took the easy way out for once? Would it make you feel empty?

The people who seek out what is difficult, who aren’t afraid of STRUGGLE make all of our lives worth living.

VALUES - The Sun in Gate 50 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 50, VALUES. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE CAULDRON.

This is very potent, highly influential energy for transmitting and protecting the VALUES of the tribe. Think Mama Bear or the ultimate matriarchal Grandma. People without even thinking twice fall into line when they are in this energy’s aura.

It is also the compulsion to take care of the people in your life, a very nourishing energy in fact. For example, it is not unusual for someone with the energy of VALUES to be a wonderful cook. Because they feel compelled to nourish their loved ones.

Of course the danger here could be putting other people’s needs ahead of your own in an unhealthy, codependent way. And as with all energies connected to the spleen there is fear here as well. The fear of not meeting your responsibilities, not doing enough, not taking care of the people in your life enough.

How do VALUES play a role in your life? Do you take care of others to a fault? Where do you rank yourself as far as your priorities go? Are you first in line or last? Why? Do you generally feel like you are never doing enough; never taking care of enough? Is this in light of other people’s expectations or your own? What if you didn’t make dinner tonight? Would the family survive? How does self care play out in your life? Is it possible to be equally nurturing to yourself? Why not? Is there is someone in your life that consistently takes care of you? What have you done lately to take care of them?

CONTINUITY - The Sun in Gate 32 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The sun has now moved into Gate 32, CONTINUITY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called DURATION.

This is the energy for big dreams. Someone who has this energy defined by the sun may be that person who is always talking about their new exciting business plan which unfortunately never seems to materialize. Don’t judge them. It’s not their fault. Because this is the energy to intuitively know what business ideas will work without any of the energy to physically make it happen. In truth this gift is for others. Think venture capitalist rather than founder and CEO.

This is intuitive energy, not workforce energy. No matter how certain they are that an idea is meant to be successful (and they are certain) they don’t have the design to make it happen. Continuously trying to be something they are not will lead to frustration and a crushing fear of failure. Which could lead to paralysis.

Do you have a natural instinct for business? What does that mean to you? Is it OK that not everyone has the energy for business? Why? When you know a business idea is fantastic and it doesn’t pan out is that bad? What does failure mean to you? Are you afraid to do things because there is a chance you might fail? Do you see failure as an opportunity for wisdom? Why not? What is the worst thing that can happen if an endeavor fails to launch? What does it say about you?

The energy of CONTINUITY is a beautiful example of how we are put on this earth to work with each other. That we are all pieces of the puzzle is one of my favorite revelations of Human Design. Someone who has the workforce energy to start and sustain a business might not have any sense at all of what business ideas will work.

Put these two energies together with the opportunities for invitation and response to work their magic and watch dreams come true.

INTUITION - The Sun in Gate 57 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 57, INTUITION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE GENTLE.

This is the energy for INTUITION plain and simple. But that is not so simple is it? How do you trust in something as nebulous as INTUITION?

One, you have to believe you have it in the first place. Second you have to push through your fear of the future. Third, you have to turn your brain off and actually listen to it. Because this energy in particular truly is about listening. The mastery of this energy is clairaudience. Meaning there is the potential here for hearing voices or sounds that communicate the truth. In fact, this energy is one of the strongest indications in the chart for psychic abilities.

But I would argue whether you have this energy defined or not, we all have varying types of intuition. Most of the gates of the spleen for example have a particular sort of intuition, there are the transits of course, and we must not forget the amplification of other people’s intuitive abilities can be very powerful. But for those of us who have this energy defined, this INTUITION works in a fixed manner. That is what definition means. The energy is fixed.

So while we’re on the subject what does INTUITION mean to you? Do you have it? Do you trust it? Do you think other people are crazy when they talk about their INTUITION? Why? When your INTUITION tells you to walk away from something do you do it? How does that turn out? What does your INTUITION tell you on a day to day, hour by hour basis? How does this relate to your authority? If you heard a voice in your head would you listen?

Are you open to hearing what the universe has to tell you?

DEPTH - The Sun in Gate 48 - #HUMANDESIGN #ICHING #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS

The sun has now moved into Gate 48, DEPTH. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE WELL.

DEPTH is part of the Understanding Circuit in Human Design which is associated with the logical side of humanity who require proof and repetition to support any theory. It is also part of the Channel of Talent which includes Gate 16, SKILLS. This is not magical talent that comes out of nowhere. Although Gate 16 is definitely associated with natural talent and enthusiasm. What DEPTH brings to table is the need to practice and learn until we feel we are adequate for the task. Natural talent and enthusiasm combined with the desire to work hard create the formula for amazing displays of mastery.

This energy has its challenges. As with all gates in the Spleen, the low expression of this energy is fear. In this case, you guessed it, the fear of inadequacy. But with all fears associated with the spleen, the trick is to push through and do it anyway which will result in the fear most likely melting away rather quickly. Tell that to someone with DEPTH in a prominent position on their chart without its partner in crime (Gate 16 SKILLS) and they’ll stare at you like you have two heads.

As I mentioned, this logical energy is compelled to put in the work until they feel adequate. The trouble is how do they know for sure exactly when they are adequate? Because the logical bent of this circuitry needs proof. But how can they have proof unless they actually do it?

The truth is, people with this energy usually put in more work and energy into mastering things than people who don’t have this energy. So yeah, they are more than ready. But they probably will never feel ready.

There lies the rub.

How do you handle your fears of inadequacy? Are you one of those lucky people who think they are awesome at absolutely everything? Why not? What proof do you have that you would be bad at something unless you actually try it? Are you brave enough to be bad at something until you have put in enough work to be great? What if after all that work you’re not that great? Is that OK?

What if you shared your DEPTH of knowledge and experience with others? What’s the worst that can happen? You will always know less than some and more than others. but you will for sure have something to contribute.

Just do it.

CORRECTION - The Sun in Gate 18 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #ICHING #TRANSIT

The Sun has now moved into Gate 18, CORRECTION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called WORK ON WHAT HAS BEEN SPOILT.

This is the energy to CORRECT or tweak something until it is PERFECT. It is about striving for the JOY of PERFECTION.

It is the brilliant energy of the editor. Is there anything worse than reading a book and having a typo thrust you out of the narrative? I hate that. Don’t you hate that? Isn’t there great JOY in experiencing a perfectly edited book?

It is important to note this energy is not necessarily meant to be directed at ourselves. It is meant to be directed outward in a productive way. Turn this energy inward and someone with this definition could pick themselves apart. For there can be a strong splenic fear with this energy of not being PERFECT; the fear that things are not PERFECT. It is also not always best to direct the energy of CORRECTION towards our loved ones. Turn this drive to CORRECT on someone you love and they just might not experience this energy with the loving intention intended. How can we not take criticism from our loved ones personally?

It is hard to hold back though because that intuitive awareness of what to tweak to improve what is not CORRECT is powerful stuff. As with all projected energy, wait for right timing and even better wait for the invitation to offer your insight on how to CORRECT something. It really does make all the difference in how the advice is perceived.

What does the concept of CORRECTION mean to you? When you walk into a room do you immediately zone in on what needs to be tweaked to improve the decor? When you move that pillow just so do you feel JOY? What is the experience of being CORRECTED feel like to you? When you see an opportunity to help someone improve, do you feel compelled to share your advice? Does this come from a place of Love or irritation? Did they ask for your advice? Does that matter? When someone offers their advice do you experience it as helpful or do you feel criticized? Why? How does that make you feel? Are you continually working to improve yourself? Is that good? Or does this make you feel generally IMPERFECT? Is that bad? What does PERFECTION mean to you? Are you afraid of IMPERFECTION?

Thank goodness for those individuals who intuitively know how to tweak something just so to make it sublime. The world needs that does it not?

CONFUSION - The Sun in Gate 64 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The Sun is now in Gate 64, CONFUSION, In the I-Ching this hexagram is called BEFORE COMPLETION. 

This energy has a direct connection to the the super consciousness. Huge concepts arrive out of nowhere and are, at least at first, impossible to fully understand or explain to others. There is a huge sense of inspiration but the thought is unformed because it is BEFORE COMPLETION.

Here is where faith comes in. Faith that over time our subconscious will slowly work whatever it is out. Faith that when the time is right all will become clear if it is meant to be clear. It is about relaxing and allowing the sense of it all to take form organically. Because the harder someone with this energy tries to make sense of it, the more CONFUSED they will become. 

There is a lot in the Human Design Chart that teaches us to wait; whether it be for an invitation, clarity, or an external sign. Waiting goes against how many of us were raised but the universe is set up to guide us along our path if, and that's a big if, we allow ourselves to trust it. If we can relax and allow it to happen, the correct people and situations will be magnetically drawn to us and we will have the ability to know they represent the right path. 

Listen to me. As much as I prefer to keep these messages simple and understandable, I am unable to resist delving into the larger concepts whether I can explain them clearly or not. Not so simple when CONFUSION reigns.

What is not simple is gaining the patience and having the faith to trust that our path will be revealed to us. That's not simple at all. 

The energy of CONFUSION is designed to teach us how to relax and to allow the huge concepts to become clear over time. There is no room for impatience here. Allow yourself to be CONFUSED and let your mind wander. You might never be able to explain it to anyone else. That may or may not be the point.

So what does CONFUSION mean to you? Are you easily CONFUSED? Are you impatient with yourself if you don’t have clarity or certainty? Why? Do you enjoy CONFUSION? Does it drive you nuts when the people in your life cannot explain themselves to you? Why? Do you allow your mind to wander? Why not? Do people get frustrated with you when you are spacing out? Is it OK to allow yourself the creative process of waiting for clarity?      

If you are meant to fully understand the download you will. In the meantime, enjoy the mental gymnastics. They can be super fun if you're not attached to the outcome.

LONELINESS - The Sun in Gate 40 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #TRANSITS #ICHING

The sun has now moved into Gate 40, LONELINESS. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called DELIVERANCE. 

This is the energy of LONELINESS in all its permutations. Someone with this energy defined certainly needs their alone time. It is quite necessary for their well being and also necessary for their unique process of DELIVERING results. 

But they also may feel very LONELY in general which in many cases drives them to reach out to others. This need to connect and resulting efforts to do so never quite shake the sense of LONELINESS however. So this energy may find themselves focusing on the lack of connection rather than the actual connection, often feeling the most LONELY with the people they love. No matter how much attention and love they get, they will feel ALONE. 

It is easy to blame others for this feeling. The reasoning being "If this person really did care about me I wouldn't feel so ALONE." Awareness is key. If you have this energy and are aware that this is simply who you are and not the direct result of someone else's behavior you can better appreciate the people in your life who really do in fact love you.

So If you are celebrating your birthday this week, give this some thought. It is OK to feel LONELY. It is a fundamental part of who you are. In your ALONENESS you are able to process and DELIVER amazing results in this world. Other people cannot make you feel any different for any length of time and it is not their fault. But DO continue to reach out and connect with them. This is also a fundamental part of who you are.

It is in the seeking that transformation happens for all parties involved.  

How does LONELINESS play a part in your life? Do you avoid being ALONE at all costs? Why? Do you love being ALONE? Do you believe someone when they tell you and show you they care? Why not? Would you not want to join the club that would have you as it's member? Why? Would it be possible to give the people in your life the benefit of the doubt and actually trust that they care?

This is also a truly wonderful period to take some time to yourself and self reflect. Revel in being ALONE.      

SEXUALITY - The Sun in Gate 59 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #CHAKRAS #ICHING

The Sun has now moved to Gate 59, SEXUALITY or INTIMACY. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called DISPERSION.

This energy is all about connection. SEXUALITY is for sure at play here but I see it more as seeking connection. This energy wants to penetrate the auras around it, to truly experience INTIMACY. It is grasping towards the solar plexus, seeking creative INTIMACY.

This can play out as seeking physical, SEXUAL connection but can also include the desire for deep, connected friendship. This energy is not particularly comfortable with surface, shallow relationships. It craves a true, intimate bond.    

What exactly does INTIMACY mean to you? What about SEXUALITY? Do you find it difficult to connect INTIMATELY with others? Or are you someone who prefers to connect with people on a deeper level? Are you uncomfortable when someone penetrates your space, even with your explicit consent? Does it depend on the person? How does your SEXUALITY play out in your life?

If you are having trouble connecting with someone you care about why not use this transit as an excuse to make an attempt to feel closer? Go deep with the people you love.

ANSWERS - The Sun in Gate 4 #HUMANDESIGN #ASTROLOGY #ICHING #CHAKRAS

The Sun has now moved into Gate 4, ANSWERS or MENTAL SOLUTIONS. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called YOUTHFUL FOLLY.

This is the energy for having the ANSWER, whether it is accurate or not. Depending on whether the AJNA is undefined or defined it can also be pressure to be certain of that ANSWER.

Thinking about the ANSWERS to the universe and searching for the ANSWERS is a wonderful thing; a truly admirable pursuit.

But critical thinking is imperative. Fake news is an excellent example of an ANSWER for ANSWER'S sake. But if you decide to call something fake news does that simple act make it inaccurate? If the news in question is actually, upon further investigation accurate but is repeatedly called fake, does it even qualify as news anymore? If something blatantly false is repeatedly referred to as the ANSWER does the repeating of it in fact make it news?

What is your relationship to ANSWERS? Do you have all the ANSWERS? When a subject comes up during conversation are you quick to jump in with the ANSWER? Are you sure you have the right ANSWER? Should you maybe look into things a little bit more before chiming in? Do people look to you for the ANSWERS? Do you hate it when someone is a know it all? Do you have trouble trusting yourself when you have the ANSWER? Why?

Perception is key. My ANSWER may be different from your ANSWER. But what in fact is the truth?

DEMOCRACY - The Sun in Gate 31 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 31, DEMOCRACY. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called INFLUENCE.

This is the energy for DEMOCRATIC leadership. DEMOCRATIC leadership can be a bit tricky. Because someone with this energy defined knows they are a leader. But they will get themselves into trouble if they decide to start leading without being chosen first. Meaning, this leader needs to be called out and elected into leadership. If not, people will resent this energy for taking over and telling them what to do. 

But if someone with this energy waits to be elected, they will receive very strong support. This is the energy for approaching leadership as a service. It is here to lead others in the manner that serves them and serves their interests. The key here is to INFLUENCE what people want and then deliver it the way they want it.  

Are you a natural leader? Do people turn to you for guidance and direction? What happens when you take a leadership role? Do you experience rejection? Do you experience support? Why? Are you good enough to lead? Are you prepared to lead? Do you even want to lead? How do you support the leaders in your life? Why not? Are they DEMOCRATIC? Did you ask them to take the lead? What qualities do you look for in a leader? 

Gate 45, THE KING/QUEEN just leads. Gate 31, DEMOCRACY, is called to lead when the timing is right.

THE STORYTELLER - The Sun in Gate 56 - #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ICHING #ASTROLOGY

The Sun has now moved into Gate 56, THE STORYTELLER. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called THE WANDERER. 

This is the energy for STORYTELLING. Someone with this energy defined in a prominent position in their chart loves to hear themselves talk and if they are not paying attention to how receptive their audience is, they may come off as a bit of a bore. But the thing is they are actually really talented at spinning a fantastic yarn. In fact they are wonderfully gifted teachers and can be great writers as well (but the telling of the STORY is what they love the most). 

The trick is to make sure the audience is receptive. For example, a teacher has a built in audience that is there specifically to hear their STORIES. Who doesn't love a teacher that tells an engrossing STORY. It is the best way to learn. On the other hand the wife who has listened to her Gate 56 husband tell their friends with same STORY a thousand times might want to pull her hair out. 

Again, this is what we call projected energy in Human Design. Which simply means it is energy that will be served best by waiting for an invitation. So if you're dying to tell that favorite STORY which applies just perfectly in the current situation, stop and ask your audience if they would like to hear it. Chances are they will say "sure," and be a much more receptive, appreciative crowd. It’s just that simple.

Do you love to regale a crowd with your STORIES? Why not? Is that OK? Do you like listening to a great STORY? Are you a good listener? Are you a good teacher? What puts you off from wanting to listen to someone tell a STORY? Do you find people receptive to your STORIES or do you experience resistance? Why? How good are you at sensing when the timing is right to tell your STORY? How does it feel when people ask you to tell a particular STORY?

DETAILS - The Sun in Gate 62 #HUMANDESIGN #TRANSITS #ASTROLOGY #ICHING

The Sun has now moved into Gate 62, DETAILS or PLANNING. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called PREPONDERANCE OF THE SMALL.

This is the energy for DETAILS. People who have this energy defined tend to be highly DETAILED and very organized, or not. If someone with this energy defined in a prominent position in their chart were to say to me "I'm not detailed or organized at all, my house is a mess!" I would say, "yeah, but you know where everything is right?" Because aware of it or not, they do take in every DETAIL. Which in some ways can be low key overwhelming.

The low expression of this energy might entail being overly anxious and overwhelmed with the self inflicted responsibility for all the DETAILS. Or it can be expressed in a very nit-picky way that is somewhat overbearing about its insistence for precision.

But the gift of this energy, the goal really, is a high level of impeccable precision; a true eye for the DETAILS.

There is also an element here of PLANNING every DETAIL to alleviate any sense of there being no PLAN. How much of this can be trusted to fate? Is it possible to simply have faith that things are naturally going along according to a higher consciousness PLAN with or without your intervention?

Are you good with the DETAILS? Are you more of a big picture person? Is it better to let someone else deal with the DETAILS? Is that bad? Does it make you anxious when every DETAIL of your PLAN does not go accordingly? If things do not go according to your plan is this fate simply stepping in to course correct? The sun has now moved into Gate 53, STARTING THINGS, NEW BEGINNINGS, or THE STARTER. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called DEVELOPMENT. 

This is the energy for STARTING THINGS but not necessarily finishing them. It stems from the pulse energy of adrenaline. 

Now a lot of people really struggle to START things so someone with this energy is very valuable to have around. In fact it is a perfect example of how the puzzle of humanity is meant to work together. A partnership between two people who each have the energy to START THINGS or the energy to FINISH THINGS is a beautiful thing is it not? 

Now a word about that adrenaline pulse. Sometimes it is off. So if you have this energy defined understand that every once in a while the energy will simply not be there. This is a great time to listen to your body and take a break. The pulse will inevitably return, so enjoy the rest. Because soon enough you'll be off and running with STARTING THINGS again.

Truth be told, someone with this energy defined may find themselves with unfinished projects sitting all over the house. Because the fun here of course lies within the excitement of STARTING something. Please know this is OK and natural for this definition. Throw in a third line profile with the need for experimentation to this mix and there will be a trail of unfinished projects throughout this person’s life. Sometimes the entire point is the initial experience.

The sun has now moved into Gate 39, PROVOCATION. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called OBSTRUCTION. 

This is a very PROVOCATIVE energy which energetically makes people feel poked and prodded. It is a catalyst for stirring up emotions and sometimes this is exactly what we need. There is an impulse here to PROVOKE people into being authentic.

Ultimately, this energy is meant to be the PROVOCATION for emotional and spiritual growth.  

People with this energy may find themselves baffled by the reaction they get from others just by going about their day. Or not, because they certainly have their moments where they enjoy poking the bear. OR they may actually feel irrationally PROVOKED by other people. Because all energies do go both ways.

Many people with this energy are highly creative and musically gifted, PROVOKING emotional responses in various creative ways. Frida Kahlo was defined by the sun in Gate 39 and I think it is safe to say that she PROVOKED a response in this world.

Let us not forget that PROVOCATIVE energy can also be sexy and flirty. Think Jessica Rabbit and the multitude of double takes she garnered from her costars. Fun right? She PROVOKED a response just by walking into a room.

As with all gates, there is the low expression of PROVOCATION as well. This can manifest as a fear of lack, whether that lack be materialistic or about the fundamental things we need to sustain ourselves. The personal journey of this aspect of PROVOCATION is to find peace in the knowledge that the universe will provide whatever we need; to learn to trust in abundance that isn't forced.

Do you find yourself easily PROVOKED into anger or hurt feelings by the behavior or words of others? Do you unnecessarily poke and prod the people in your life and take pleasure in their discomfort? Or is it pleasure in their opportunity for growth? Is it possible to consider those moments when you are irrationally hurt or angry as opportunities to jump start your own personal growth? The Sun has now moved into Gate 52, PERSPECTIVE, STILLNESS or THE MOUNTAIN. In the I-Ching this hexagram is called KEEPING STILL MOUNTAIN.

This is the energy to stop, be STILL, and take the time to see the proverbial forest for the trees. The lower expression of this energy of course can also mean sitting around doing nothing. I have heard Gate 52 lovingly referred to as the couch potato gate. Of course there is a difference between lying on the couch and distracting yourself with television versus being still enough to allow an awareness of what is.

There is a unique opportunity for wisdom with this energy.

So I invite you to stop, look around, and take it all in. What is the bigger picture? Does Twitter really need your hot take on any subject before you have had a chance to gain PERSPECTIVE? Are you someone who can stop and take stock of a situation or do you act immediately? Is it your habit to continually put out fires or do you consistently plan five steps ahead? Do you meditate? Why? Why not? Is that OK? Are you typically an observer or in the thick of it? Are you always physically moving? Do you find it difficult to get moving? Are you paralyzed; unable to act? Why?

This is a great time to be STILL and take the time necessary to fully take stock of your life. A quiet vacation away from the hustle and bustle would be ideal. In what ways are you truly blessed? What are your particular challenges? In the long run, what is serving you and your loved ones and what is not?

Of course in Human Design we do not encourage over thinking. To be clear, this energy is not about mental gymnastics. It is about developing an awareness based on the gift of STILLNESS.

The Sun has now moved into Gate 15, EXTREMES or LOVE OF HUMANITY. In the I-Ching, this hexagram is called MODESTY. 

This is the energy for EXTREMES in rhythms and patterns. It can be quite the challenge for someone with this energy defined to stick to a rigid schedule. In many ways this has to do with an innate connection to what is going on with nature, there is no denying that pull regardless of what is on the agenda for the day. So it is less a refusal to stick with a schedule and more of an awareness of the true correct timing of nature.

For example, someone with this definition might drive their partner nuts by having to do this or that last minute before leaving their house for a party. But then when they arrive, they might find out the party had been delayed for some reason and that they are in fact arriving at the optimal time. This is an example of the seemingly erratic, yet divine timing of Gate 15.

Also people with this energy defined have very large auras. No matter how low key someone with this energy tries to be, people immediately notice them when they walk into the room. As a result many folks with this energy defined try to shrink themselves to no avail. Hence the hexagram, MODESTY. 

I have also heard this energy called the vortex. It is very easy to get caught up in the energy of someone with Gate 15, truly through no fault of their own. Whether that energy is expressing the high or low version of this energy it can be difficult not to get sucked in. At its best, I would like to think this vortex has the capacity for pulling people in to help HUMANITY.

Because in the end this is the energy for the LOVE OF HUMANITY. Love for all who reside here on this planet. For better or worse. Without awareness one can lose track of their own well being when there is so much love for HUMANITY.  

Do you struggle to keep a fixed schedule? Is that bad? Is it possible to see this as a gift rather than a fault? Does it make you feel less safe if the people around you are incapable of sticking to a pattern? Why? Is it possible to allow yourself to go with their flow every once in a while and allow divine timing to happen?

I invite you to also reflect on your feelings towards HUMANITY. It is so easy to focus on the bad examples of what is happening in the world today but how can we have more faith in HUMANITY as a whole? Do you generally love HUMANITY or do you hold suspicion in your heart? How can you open your heart to be a force of love in this world?

Are you someone who habitually puts others before yourself to a fault? What can you do to establish healthier boundaries? How can you show compassion and love to HUMANITY without losing yourself in the process?

These are strange times. But I keep coming back in my mind to the the role we each play in the puzzle of humanity. We each have an integral part to play. All we can do is strive to be the highest expression of ourselves we can manage and try be kind to the people around us.
